Travis County Constable Office Pct. 2 Deputy Michael DeLeon jumped at the opportunity to explain the job of police officer to a group of kids at AVANCE-Austin on Thursday April 19th. The children were very excited to meet a real police officer and were treated with a backpack filled with stickers and coloring books. The group of children had been learning about different occupations and even received a visit from doctors from The Dell Children's Medical Center.

AVANCE is one of the oldest, largest and most distinguished parenting and early childhood education programs in the country. The group supports Austin families in achieving long term educational success and breaking the familial cycles of poverty. By providing intensive services in a rich, supportive environment, AVANCE helps families improve their overall well being, impacting two generations simultaneously. They provide critical education and intervention services, creating the conditions that transform high crime, economically depressed neighborhood into ones where families are contributing and their children are succeeding academically.
