Pct. 2 is utilizing new technology to make traffic stops quicker and more accurate with 12 new electronic ticketwriters. The device is equipped with a scanner that uses the barcode on the back of a driver's license to automatically populate the necessary information. Instead of hand-written citations that have to be re-entered into the court or public safety records management systems, Deputies can easily enter citation information into the mobile device, which is automatically uploaded into any system defined by the agency. The electronic ticketwriters come equipped with a camera that helps prevent false identification, notes in which the officer can write about minor details, and audio recording. All of these functions are time-saving measures to help the officer make less mistakes and reduce the danger involved on a traffic stop.
