On April 24th, Pct. 2 launched an initiative to monitor school buses and make sure drivers were obeying traffic law and not passing when school buses lights were red. Deputies were also monitoring school zones and crosswalks to make sure drivers were obeying speed limits. Recently, our office has noticed drivers breaking the law and putting children and others in danger, which prompted the initiative. The initiative will be focused on Austin I.S.D. and Pflugerville I.S.D. Pct. 2 is asking people to take care and obey the law when driving behind and in front of school buses. Our children depend on the caution of motorists while getting on and off school buses.
