Continuous law enforcement training is a vital necessity for peace officers in all capacities. Our office provides these courses free of charge for the Sheriff's Office, Austin P.D., and all 5 precincts in Travis County. This month, courses have included Organized Gang Activity Training and Courtroom Security Training. Officers were informed of what types of gangs are currently active in Travis County and how to recognize their characteristics. For Courtroom Security, officers were taught the history of courtroom security and evaluated their own buildings for strengths and weaknesses.
