Chief Johnson Wins At 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off

Pct. 2 held our 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off on March 9th and it was an astounding success. We sold plenty of all you can eat chili with all the fixings for $5 and we surprised Special Olympics Texas with a nice donation who were meeting at our office that day.

The event also sparked some healthy competition in the office. All participants tried their best and put forth some really great tasting entries but Chief Daniel Johnson surprisingly took home the first place trophy. Cyera, the newest addition to the telecommunications team took second and Corporal Sheila Doyle took home third.

The main goal was to create something that benefitted the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Texas. The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics. Known as Guardians of the Flame, law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes carry the Flame of Hope into the Opening Ceremony of local competitions, and into Special Olympics State, Provincial, National, Regional and World Games. Annually, more than 100,000 dedicated and compassionate law enforcement members carry the “Flame of Hope,” symbolizing courage and celebration of diversity uniting communities around the globe.
